Elvie hosts Frank Covino's Workshop on a working ranch that runs sheep, goats, cattle and quarter horses.
Location: Del Rio is 75 miles to the south, San Antonio is 150 miles east and San Angelo is 100 miles to the north of the ranch.The ranch is located halfway (30miles) between Sonora and Rocksprings, Texas on the south side of State Highway 55.
Directions to the ranch: From Sonora go south on Highway 277, 22miles to Highway 55 and turn left of Highway 55. Go 6 miles south on Highway 55 and red bump-gate is on the right. Go through bump gate and follow the main road straight 2 miles until you reach another bump-gate. Go through this bump-gate and down a hill and TURN LEFT at the bottom of the hill. Go 1 mile farther. Pass first house and go around pens to second house, which is Elvie's house and studio.
From Rocksprings Go north 27 miles out of Rocksprings on Highway 55. Red bump-gate will be on your right. If you see a sign for the Texas A&M Experiment Station, you have gone a mile too far!
Hours for Workshop Frank teaches from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 to 5:00. Because of the distance from town, Elvie feeds all artists their noon meal. This is a nice time for relaxation and conversation and to look around the ranch.

Where to Stay <Sonora hotels link Some artists of the artists share Elvie's spare bedrooms and some students car pool form Sonora where there are motels and carpool from Sonora on a daily basis.
Things to do when not in class: Artists have opportunities to to get out in the fresh air and take short hikes around the ranch and enjoy the wildlife and outdoors. There are plenty of deer, turkeys and birds to be enjoyed.
